The Rotary Club of West Shreveport has been awarded a Rotary Foundation grant to provide safe drinking water in the Dominican Republic. The Rotary Foundation is providing $5050, which is a dollar-to-dollar match to the $5000 from District 6190 Designated Funds, plus 50% of the $100 contributed by the Rotary Club of Barahona. This is a total of $10,150 for the water project.
This project will fund 137 cement biosand water filter units to help 137 families have clean water in Barahona, Dominican Republic. The Barahona Rotary Club and West Shreveport Rotarians will be working with the cooperating organization, The Water-Hygiene Project of Albergue Infantil (Children's Shelter) of Jesus Peregrino Episcopal Church. The church operates a free school and meal program. In appreciation of support from the District, the Rotary Club of West Shreveport will make a $1000 donation to the Rotary Foundation.

Huntington High School Interact in Action

Tuesday, November 18 was a bright, sunny, cool and breezy day. Perfect for grilling 250 pieces of chicken for a fund-raiser for the Interact club. Sponsor Kathy Beech and volunteers, prepared carry-out feasts for the 90 pre-paid customers and those planning to drop by during the lunch hour.
Did I mention it was breezy?
